Mumbo Gumbo returns to The Palms for post-Thanksgiving dance party

By
From page A14 | November 27, 2013 |

NorCal favorites Mumbo Gumbo will bring their big, joyful sound to The Palms Playhouse, 13 Main St. in Winters, for their annual post-Thanksgiving dance party at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.

Mumbo Gumbo is fronted by singer/songwriters Chris Webster and Tracy Walton. Moving back and forth between Webster’s sly, sometimes wistful, sometimes funny explorations of romance and individuality (“Love Makes Me Stupid,” “Opera Girl”) and Walton’s ebullient, unabashed celebrations of family and commitment (“Original You,” “Stuck On You”) and Webster/Walton collaborations such as “The Wonder Of It All,” Gumbo weaves a rich tapestry of sound and sensibility that transcends genre.

The band is anchored and driven by drummer Rick Lotter and bassist Lynn Michael Palmer, along with Reggy Marks (saxophone), Jon Wood (guitar) and Steve Stizzo (keyboards).

Tickets are $20 and available at Armadillo Music in Davis, Watermelon Music in Woodland, Pacific Ace Hardware in Winters and at the door if not sold out. For more information, visit palmsplayhouse.com and mumbogumbo.com.
