Meg Alison, Mm Mm Good and special guests will present “Catch My Fall,” a concert of heartfelt original songs reflecting personal, yet universal, experiences ranging from first love to deep loss.
The concert, which also will include some folk-rock favorites, will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Davis Community Church, 412 C St., downtown Davis.
Mm Mm Good taps into a broad range of musical experiences to create distinctive originals and well-loved covers, from soulful ballads to rockabilly and more. Group members are Wendy Silk, Ron Goldberg, Meri Superak and Meg Alison. Close harmonies blend with fine acoustic instrumentation, electric keyboard and percussion to create an unusual sound.
With deep roots in the Davis community, Mm Mm Good has performed at many local events. Alison contributes vocals, guitar and percussion to Mm Mm Good and other ensembles in the area. She has sung in choirs all her life, touring with the Davis High School Madrigals and joining the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir at Carnegie Hall.
The concert is free but a free-will donation will benefit renovations to Davis Community Church’s historic sanctuary building and Seeds of Learning. Renovations are set to begin in June and represent the third and final phase of updates done to the church in recent years.
Seeds of Learning is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities in rural Latin America.
