By From page A11 | September 5, 2011

RootStock is serving wine with a little Chicken & Dumpling — music by the duo, that is — from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at 22 Main St. in downtown Winters.

Local residents are invited to stop in for for a glass of wine and enjoy the down-home delta-style blues of Chicken & Dumpling, featuring Charles “Chicken” Oriel on the guitar and Julia “Dumpling” Simon on the bass.

Chicken & Dumpling’s music is inspired by Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy and Muddy Waters, in addition to the classic women’s blues of Bessie Smith and Sippie Wallace. The duo also covers contemporary blues artists like Bonnie Raitt and Eric Clapton, as well as jazz standards.

In addition to wine, guests are invited to taste local oils. For more information, go rootstockgifts.com.
