Chinese music, culture highlighted in Oct. 21 concert

Chinese artist and musician Zimei will hold a concert at Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Veterans Memorial Theater, 203 E. 14th St., at 4 p.m. This special event includes Chinese guzheng, pop songs, fairy dances and cartoons. Zimei will play with local orchestra members, as well as various other musicians.

Zimei, who started performing in 2008, has won many awards and is involved in many national and international artistic activities. She learned the guzheng from the Chinese master Gao Liang. Her performances such as “Fisherman’s Serenade,” “The Autumn Moon over the Han Palace.” “The Elegant Moon,” “Jasmine Flower,” and “Hometown Dreams” have impressed audiences. She performs masterpieces of Chinese music with “not only her fingers, but also her heart.”
