The Nada Brahma Music Ensemble will present an evening of raga and tala music beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at International House, Davis, 10 College Park. Matthew Grasso plays the 25-stringed raga guitar and Alex Jenkins plays the tabla. Admission is free.

“Hear the mystical sounds of this ancient music from India,” a news release said. “All of their music is 100 percent improvised. Witness their skill in rhythmic complexity (tala), expressed in cycles of 4 3/4, 9 1/4 and 5 1/2. The universal tranquility that emanates from raga (melody forms) will transport you to another world.”

The performance is funded by a city of Davis arts grant. For more information, call I-House at (530) 753-5007 or visit www.internationalhousedavis.org.
