Members of the Emerson-Harper Junior High Orchestra prepare for their end-of-the-year concert on Monday evening. From left are students Diana Jian, Miguel Soler, Sam Lee, Christine Chung and Jill Bavetta with their teacher, Greg Brucker. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Brunelle Performance Hall at Davis High School, 315 W. 14th St. in Davis. Musicians from Emerson, Da Vinci and Harper junior highs will perform classical, jazz and rock music by Antonin Dvorák, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Henry Mancini and Freddie Mercury, among others. Both the Advanced Orchestra and Intermediate Orchestra earned a first-place ranking at their respective “Music In The Parks” competitions in April. Each group competed against several other orchestras from the Bay Area and Sacramento Valley and earned superior ratings. Sue Cockrell/Enterprise photo
