Hear banjo music at free concert

By From page A9 | January 10, 2012

The Sacramento Banjo Band will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Atria Covell Gardens, 1111 Alvarado Ave. in Davis.

Band members play four-string banjos with clear melodies supported by strummed chords, like you would expect to hear on a riverboat or in Dixieland jazz bands, an Atria spokeswoman said. Musicians play other instruments, too, including a tuba, gut bucket, washboard, clarinet and a stumpf fiddle.

Admission is free, and the concert is open to the public. For more information, call Kathy Green at (530) 756-0700.
