Locals are invited to stop by RootStock, 22 Main St. in Winters, between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday to enjoy the music of Bob Adams.

Since 1976, Adams has been a performing musician and composer, working variously as a jazz pianist, acoustic bassist and organist; he’s played electric bass and guitar in rock, funk and Afro-pop bands; and he’s performed at times as a singer-songwriter accompanying himself on acoustic guitar.

Adams has performed and recorded with artists such as Stan Getz, Joe Pass, Freddie Hubbard, Michael Brook, Flea, Little Jimmy Scott, Oxbow, Tim Volpicella and Hafez Modirzadeh.

Since 1994, Adams has farmed 80 acres in Yolo, and has written many songs about farming in the Sacramento Valley, about people he has met and about the agricultural landscape in California and other places he has traveled around the world.
