Quijeremá performs Saturday in concert

Quijeremá will perform music of the African diaspora in Latin America when it plays a concert Saturday evening, Oct. 8, at the Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Bay Ave. East in Davis.

Tunes from Bolivia, Peru, Colombia and Uruguay are featured by this San Francisco Bay Area-based ensemble, which has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America.

The band features 

Quique Cruz from Chile on strings, Andean wind instruments and percussion; Jeremy Allen of the United States on bass and percussion; Maria Fernanda Acuña from Venezuela on percussion and Venezuelan cuatro; and Henry Hung of the United States on trumpet, flugelhorn and percussion. Joining them as a guest artist is guitarist Jordan Samuels.
