Musician Ravi Shankar has canceled his Oct. 23 performance at the Mondavi Center, UC Davis officials announced Thursday.

Shankar’s management company, Opus 3 Artists, provided the following statement: “It is with deep regrets that, due to health issues, Panditji Ravi Shankar must cancel his October 2012 tour.

“Mr. Shankar lives for the joy of performing and is very sorry to have to announce this cancellation. He very much hopes to be able to perform for the Davis community in a future period.”

The Mondavi Center will issue refunds to all ticket holders no later than Friday, July 13. For more information, call (530) 754-2787 or visit www.mondaviarts.org.
