DIXON — Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg and comedian Larry the Cable Guy will headline this year’s Dixon May Fair — although not together.
Snoop Dogg, who will soon release his 11th studio album, “Doggumentary,” will perform Wednesday, May 9, in the fair’s arena. Larry the Cable Guy — known for his signature phrase “get-er-done,” will entertain the crowd Saturday, May 12, with opening act Reno Collier.
Fair officials are finalizing the remainder of the fair’s headline performances, according to a news release. Additional acts will be announced later.
Tickets for the Snoop Dogg concert and the comedy show will go on sale Saturday at all TicketMaster outlets, online at http://www.ticketmaster.com, at the May Fair box office, 655 S. First St. in Dixon, or by phone at (800) 745-3000. Every concert ticket includes admission to the fair.
“It takes a lot of work to go after these entertainers and make it work for the fair, and I’m pleased so far with what we have,” said Richard Hamilton, a member of the May Fair’s board of directors, in a news release. “We’re fortunate enough to get two icons in the entertainment business to play in Dixon.”
The May Fair will open Thursday, May 10 — a day after a “soft opening” featuring the Snoop Dogg performance — and close Sunday, May 13.
