Spend an evening at the Coconut Grove

By
From page A7 | March 01, 2012 |

Local residents are invited to enjoy jazz entertainment and a dinner catered by Dos Coyotes at the annual “An Evening at the Coconut Grove” fundraiser for the Davis High School bands. The event runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Emerson Junior High Indoor Commons, 2121 Calaveras Ave. in Davis.

The award-winning DHS Jazz Band will be joined on stage by jazz bands from Emerson, Holmes and Harper junior high schools, as well as Celia Cottle’s well-known jazz groups (J Street Jazz Cats, Sax by Popular Demand and Crazy Eights) and the Davis High Jazz Choir.

In addition to dinner, guests can participate in a raffle and a silent auction. Tickets are $35 for adults, $20 for students and free for children under 5. Reservation forms and more information are available at http://groups.dcn.org/dhsbandboosters/an-evening-at-coconut-grove.

Funds raised will support the Jazz Band’s trip to New Orleans and the combined band trip to San Diego later in the year.
