‘On the Air’ highlights Bob Hope and other radio stars

The historic Woodland Opera House will present “On the Air,” a tribute to Bob Hope and Radio Stars of the 1940s, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The production is staged as a 1940s NBC radio broadcast complete with an on-stage staff announcer reading vintage commercial copy of the period, presenting recorded jingles of the era and interacting with Hope and his legendary radio star guests, Red Skelton, Jack Benny and Jimmy Durante.

Lynn Roberts stars as Bob, Red, Jack and Jimmy, with Chuck Carson as the NBC staff and announcer.

The vintage commercials are presented with a humorous touch, and many of the senior members of the audience will remember some of the classic radio jingles like “Pepsie Cola hits the spot” and “Luster Cream Shampoo.”

It’s a laugh loaded, music filled, nostalgic trip back to the golden days of radio. For tickets and information. call 530-666-9617 or visit www.woodlandoperahouse.org.
