Open mic Thursdays at RootStock

By From page A11 | September 10, 2013

Winters residents Sam and Lori Hawk will host an open mic at 7 p.m. at Rootstock Wine & Gifts, 22 Main St., the third Thursday of every month. This is a free service to the local music community.

The open mic night provides an opportunity for musicians of all skill levels, from the beginning student to the seasoned professional, to forget the demands of public performances and practice their art among peers in a supportive environment.

The audience tends to consist of mainly musicians, although the public is always welcome. It’s also a great place for beginners to practice dealing with the on-stage jitters. The night ends with a closing jam, in which anyone is welcome to grab their instruments and play along.
