Over Forté brings its traditional jazz, Dixieland, pop, blues and swing music to Picnic in the Park from 5 p.m. to dark on Wednesday, July 2, in Central Park.

Formed in 1996, the band are Picnic in the Park favorites, who also perform at the Woodland Farmers Market, the Yolo County Fair, Woodland’s Stroll through History, and the Woodland Park and Recreation Concert series. The band has been playing together for 11 years at restaurants, breweries and farmers markets. Band members hail from Davis, Woodland, Dixon and Sacramento. Members include Dewey Berry, Cleve Baker, Marcel Berteaux, Jared Blum, Geral Peppers (with sign), Vickie Tama, Mary Kroeger-Childers, Pete Pella, Brandon McClintock, Jay Surdell and Mike Yambrovich.
The market is open from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring your own picnic or buy dinner at the food fair. Members of Soroptimist International of Davis will pour local beer and wine to raise money for local charities.

Children’s entertainment includes Central Park’s bicycle-powered carousel, Rocknasium’s climbing structure, bounce houses, face-painting and balloon-maker Dilly Dally the Clown.

Spring produce — asparagus, greens, snap peas, lettuces and strawberries — plus local eggs, honey and meat fill the market, with craft booths at the north end.

For more information, call 530-756-1695 or visit www.davisfarmersmarket.org to see the music schedule for the entire Picnic in the Park season, which continues every Wednesday evening through October.

Davis Food Co-op sponsors the music and Sutter Davis Hospital sponsors Picnic in the Park.
