Overtone Quartet brings jazz to Mondavi

By From page A11 | February 22, 2012

The Overtone Quartet will perform jazz in Jackson Hall at the Mondavi Center at 8 p.m. Saturday. Formed in 2009 for a now-fondly-recalled special performance at The Blue Note in New York, this ensemble gets together periodically and tours. Band members include bassist Dave Holland, who has been recording since the 1970s, along with saxophonist Chris Potter, pianist Jason Moran and drummer Eric Harland — all musicians born in the 1970s. There will be a pre-performance talk at 7 p.m. by Cory Combs, director of outreach, music and enrichment at The Nueva School in San Mateo County. Tickets for the concert are $25-$49 general, $12.50-$24.50 students, available at www.mondaviarts.org or (530) 754-2787.
