OXALA, a recently formed trio of Davis musicians who enjoy Portuguese music, will perform from 8:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 27, at the Village Homes Performers’ Circle.

The group will play an impressionistic rendition of what they consider Portuguese musical poetry, the genre popularly known as Fado. The selection will include classics popularized by the world-famous Amália Rodrigues and contemporary Fado sung by Ana Moura, Mariza and Teresa Salgueiro of Madredeus.

Members of OXALA are Goran Muhlert (guitar), Scarlet Huber (vocals) and Jan Peters (Irish bouzouki).

The Village Homes Performers’ Circle is a free event that features performers of all levels and creative expressions. It is held the fourth Monday of each month (except December), with sign-ups beginning at 6:45 p.m. and performances following from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

The event takes place at the Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Bay Ave. East. For more information, call 530-756-3611.
