Collect 46 bands, sprinkle them among seven venues in one downtown area and you have the makings for a very successful event.
Danny Tomasello did just that as he orchestrated the second annual Davis Music Festival on Saturday. More than 1,500 people meandered through downtown Davis from 1:30 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, listening to everything from punk to hip-hop to rock to funk and some styles that defy definition.
“It’s really like a giant puzzle,” said Tomasello, the festival founder. “It’s connecting an artist with a venue, and a venue with a sound.”
From the smiles on people’s faces, Tomasello got it right.
