The Juuliebells will present “Holiday Bells from Around the World” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road. The suggested donation of $5 to $20 will benefit the church’s handbell and handchime program.
The concert will feature standards like the Ukrainian “Carol of the Bells” and the American “Silver Bells” as well as handbell and handchime arrangements of English, Welsh, German, French, Bohemian and Burgundian melodies.
Directed by Barbara Meixner, the Juuliebells began ringing together in January 2010. Ringers include Davis residents Mike Busch, Anya Clasen, Ann Halsted, Sarah Jones, Barbara Meixner, Karen Russell, Deb Siler, Dawn Student, Joyce Takahashi and Liz Young and Woodland residents Jerry Friis and Stephanie Klose.
The church’s three-octave set of Malmark handbells and handchimes were a gift from the estate of Julie Partansky, former mayor of Davis. For more information, contact Meixner at 530-753-0193 or music@uudavis.org.
