Photographer featured in Gallery 625 exhibit

By February 27, 2011

Parked along the local rails and largely going unnoticed, railroad freight cars are the intriguing subject of the March solo exhibit at Gallery 625 in the County Administration Building in Woodland.

Davis fine arts photographer Lorenzo Kristov regularly stops for hours at a time to look closely at freight cars using his camera’s viewfinder. In the “Looking at Freight Cars” show, he presents the colorful, intriguing images he discovers there.

Kristov’s recent projects include landscape studies in the Yolo Bypass and abstract compositions from the layers of hardware, weathering and graffiti on railroad freight cars.

The exhibit’s opening reception will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, coinciding with Woodland’s downtown First Friday Art Walk. His photos may be seen during regular hours at the administration building, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
