Piano concert benefits quake, tsunami relief

Marina Horak, an internationally known pianist and teacher, will perform two concerts this week in Davis.

The first is at noon Thursday in Room 115 of the Music Building on the UC Davis campus. Admission is free.

The second is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road in rural West Davis. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors, available at the door. Proceeds from the concert, which is sponsored by the Japanese Piano Teachers Association of Davis, will be donated to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.

Pianist Marina Horak is from Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she is professor at the Academy of Music at the University of Ljubljana. She has performed widely in Europe, especially throughout the former Yugoslavia. The winner of numerous international competitions, she has studied with Nadia Boulanger, Livia Rev, and Peter Feuchtwanger, among many others.
