Rick Estrin fronts The Nightcats at the Palms

By August 9, 2011

Blues harmonica master Rick Estrin and his band, The Nightcats, will perform songs from their Alligator Records debut, “Twisted,” on Saturday at the Palms Playhouse, 13 Main St. in Winters.

For more than 30 years and nine albums, Estrin fronted the jumping, swinging Little Charlie & The Nightcats, featuring guitarist Little Charlie Baty. With Baty’s recent retirement from touring, Estrin — along with the Nightcats’ longtime rhythm section of J. Hansen and Lorenzo Farrell and a new member, fiery guitarist Kid Andersen — has taken the lead on his own.

The show starts at 8:30 p.m.; tickets are $20, available in advance at Armadillo Music, 205 F St. in Davis; Watermelon Music, 527 Main St. in Woodland; Pacific Ace Hardware, 35 Main St. in Winters; and online at tickets.com, (800) 225-2277. Tickets will be on sale at the door if they’re still available.
