Rootstock celebrates performance and visual art

By From page A12 | October 16, 2013

It’s open mic night from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at RootStock, 22 Main St. in Winters. All musicians, singers and songwriters are welcome.

Also at RootStock, the bounty of Yolo County as seen through the eyes of more than a dozen plein air artists from around the area will be on display from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18.

The current exhibit features landscapes and still lifes inspired from Winters and Yolo County. The tasting room will now include a dedicated gallery space combining performance and visual art. Some of the artists exhibiting are Marie Therese Brown, Debbie Gualco, Sally Paul, Marti Walker, Beth Winfield and Philip Gandiol.

While meandering the exhibit, the public will be treated to a complimentary music performance showcasing blues duo Keith Jordan and Kevin Radley from the group Deux K 30. Both musicians play a variety of instruments, including electric, acoustic and baritone guitars, harp, percussion and the unruly “cigarbox guitar” that Radley calls the “Hill-Billy Telecaster.”
