Alt-folk-rock trio Finding Fable will perform at Rootstock Gift Shop and Tasting Room, 22 Main St., Winters on Friday, Aug. 10. Finding Fable’s set list included original songs and eclectic covers from Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Crosby Stills & Nash as well as some modern favorites like Nora Jones and Oasis.

Featuring lead singer/keyboardist Lori Hawk, Sam Hawk on 12-string rhythm guitar and guitarist/pianist Michael Musial, Finding Fable is a Yolo County supergroup that puts on a fun show.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, the producers of Route 3 Wines and Hillstone Olive Oil, will be at Rootstock from 3 to 6 p.m. Route 3 wine tasting flights start with their 2010 Grenache, a spicy wine with ripe berry flavors and hints of licorice and cedar, followed by the 2010 Barbera, a medium bodied wine with silky tannins that complement its fruit forward flavors. To finish the series, Route 3 will introduce their newest release, Syrah-Viognier. A classic Rhone-style blend, both grape varieties were harvested at the same time and crushed together resulting in a brighter Syrah with a long smooth finish.

Chocolate always pairs well with wine. Rootstock will be pairing a medium-dark, silky smooth chocolate from their signature series just to add an additional treat for the senses.
Alongside the wine and chocolate, Hillstone Olive Oil will be providing their spectacular local olive oils and vinegars on Saturday. Hillstone is the collaboration of two friends, Laurie Schuler-Flynn and Amy DelBondio, who share an admiration for the age-old craft of producing olive oil and a passion for the art of food. Estate grown in Northern California, Hillstone only produces oil in small, closely monitored lots to maximize the quality and flavor. The resulting oil has a distinctively pungent flavor with hints of apple, artichoke, and pepper. Try it. Taste it. Drizzle it on salads, pasta, roasted potatoes, or over a rustic artisan bread.
