The May gathering of the Village Homes Performers Circle on Monday, May 23, will feature Shovel’n Blarney, a Sacramento-based band that will be dishin’ out great Irish tunes like your Uncle Mike used to sing in the pubs when he shoulda been home helping Aunt Bridget with the kids. Guests will be transported from Amerika, glass-in-hand, to a place where every day’s a picnic, with no ordinance against singing along — loudly and in publik. Shovel’n Blarney is Chris Pilon(cy), guitar and vocals; Carl (Mc)Schwedler, tenor; Robert (O’)Sprague, string bass; Caroline Stoll(ahan), accordion. The free event begins with sign-up performances at 7:15 p.m. at the Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Bay Ave. East, followed by the featured act from 8:30 to 9 p.m. For more information, call (530) 756-3611.
