Some Folks make Village Homes debut

The new Davis-based band, Some Folks, is the featured act at this month’s Village Homes Performers’ Circle, Monday, Jan. 27, in Davis.

Some Folks plays acoustic folk rock with vocal harmonies backed by fiddle, stand-up bass, guitar and cajon (box drum). A mix of covers and originals, Some Folks’ songs are rooted in the Sacramento Valley. Band members are Miles DaPrato (cajon), Carol Hillhouse (fiddle), Jon O’Brien (bass), Katharina Ullmann (guitar and vocals) and Julia Van Horn (guitar and vocals).

The Village Homes Performers’ Circle is a free event. It features performers of all levels and creative expressions, and takes place the fourth Monday of each month (except December). Sign-up begins at 6:45 p.m., with sign-up performances from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. The featured act performs from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

The event is held at the Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Ave. Bay East, Davis. For more information, call 530-756-3611.
