Songwriter plays Sophia’s on Friday

By
June 25, 2011 |

Portlander Brooke Parrott, described as “a storyteller in the truest sense of the word,” will sing Friday at 8 p.m. at Sophia’s Thai Kitchen, 129 E St. in downtown Davis. She’s in the midst of a summerlong tour of the West Coast.

Since releasing her debut album, “Another City,” in 2008, Parrott has been honing her song-writing in London. She recently shared the stage with the likes of John Parish, Darrell Scott, Robert Forster (Go-Betweens), The Wooden Sky and Frontier Ruckus.

A single from her album garnered attention last year when it was featured on T-Mobile phones worldwide.

Parrott is writing for her sophomore album, to be recorded next winter, and teaching a songwriting class at a juvenile detention center. She recently joined the Portland band Loch Lomond as keyboardist/vocalist, and will tour with them throughout the coming year.
