‘Sonnet Project’ staged this weekend

Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum and the Davis Shakespeare Ensemble present “The Sonnet Project,” an evening of poetry, song and movement inspired by William Shakespeare’s famous sonnets, performed by the Davis Shakespeare Ensemble.

The production, directed by Steph Hankinson and Gia Battista, features original music composed by Richard Chowenhill and focuses on the nature of love, passion and desire in Shakespeare’s sonnets.

It will be staged at 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Arboretum Gazebo, on Garrod Drive on the UCD campus.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children 12 and under. Parking is available along Garrod Drive and in Visitor Lot 55; parking on campus is $6 on weekdays and free on weekends.
