The Capitol Chamber Players will perform the Spring Finale concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Congregation B’nai Israel, 3600 Riverside Blvd. in Sacramento.
The concert will feature baritone James Gentry and a string quartet performing three songs: “Last Letter Home” by Lee Hoiby, “Dover Beach” by Samuel Barber and “None but the Lonely Heart” by Tchaikovsky, arranged by Robert Bloch.
The concert also will feature a world premiere of a work by Woodland composer Lawrence Frank, “My Favorite Oregon Scenes” for flute, clarinet and string quartet. It will conclude with the familiar Mozart Quartet No. 17 in B-flat Major, K. 458, known as “The Hunt.”
Frank wrote “My Favorite Oregon Scenes” in April 2011 and dedicated it to the memory of his parents and the childhood memories of the family camping trips to Oregon.
Davis musicians participating in the concert are Maquette Kuper, flute; Robin Houston, clarinet; and Robert Bloch, violin. Other musicians include Mary Blanchette violin; Gay Currier, viola; and Rejean Anderson, cello.
Tickets are available at the door for $20 general, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. For more information, call 916-428-7379 or visit capitolchamberplayers.org.
