By From page A11 | May 07, 2014

Sundays at I-House’s Countdown to Summer continues with a Mother’s Day and Whole Earth Festival combination party from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at International House, Davis, 10 College Park.

The night kicks off with open-mic performers during the first hour — sign-ups start at 6:45 p.m. — followed by the featured performers Nada Brahma Music Ensemble.

Created by guitarist, composer and musical instrument innovator Matthew Grasso, the group is known for the Indian classical genre, focusing on the common roots of Hindustani and Karnatak music. They perform common ragas found in both the north and the south of India.

Current members are Grasso (25-stringed raga guitar), Raja Sivamani (seven-stringed Veena), Alex Jenkins and Parteek Bansal (tabla drums).

All ages are welcome. The suggested donation is $5 to $20. Beverages and snacks will be available to purchase.
