Sunflower artwork due this week

By May 22, 2011

Artwork for NAMI-Yolo’s Sunflower Art Competition must be submitted between 2 and 7 p.m. Thursday or Friday at the Davis Art Center, 1919 F St.

Anyone can enter an original art work in any medium that incorporates a sunflower theme. Prizes are awarded in the following categories: children (under 8), youth (8-12), teens (13-17), amateur adults, professional artists, schools and other group installations.

The artist whose work is chosen for the sunflower seed cards that NAMI-Yolo sells as part of its outreach and fundraising efforts will receive $100. In addition, an award will be given to the educator who best demonstrates how he or she uses the competition to educate students about mental health. This is funded by an annual raffle, which raised $400 for this year’s award.

All entries will be displayed at the Davis Art Center from May 31 to June 23, with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 10.

For entry forms and more information, visit http://www.namisunflowers.org or call (530) 756-8181.
