“Threads Entwined” celebrates twin sisters Jan Schubert and Jill Scher as they display their recent felted, woven and wax pieces at The Artery, 207 G St., through Dec. 4. The artists will be feted at a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
The sisters’ work shares a common thread: the exploration of structures, light, color and prodigious productivity. Their exhibition pieces range from three-dimensional sculptural vessels to pictorial wool paintings, wearable art and functional artwork.
Schubert explores the illumination of wax with her beeswax pieces. Her felting shines with subtle color as light highlights the layered fibers.
Scher uses weaving, felting and hand-dying to explore complex sculptural forms and designs.
The gallery is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Fridays until 9 p.m.) and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
