The Davis High School Jazz Choir is seeking contestants for “Everybody Dance Now!,” the choir’s third-annual dance competition to be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Brunelle Performance Hall at Davis High, 315 W. 14th St.
“Jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, African or modern — whatever your style, we want to see you dance,” Jazz Choir Director William Zinn said.
Modeled after shows like “You Think You Can Dance” and “American Idol,” “Everybody Dance Now!” is a one-night event open to solo or duet dancing acts by Davis junior or senior high school students. Applications and a $10 application fee are due Friday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. in the DHS office or to Zinn. Twelve contestants will be chosen by lottery. No audition is required.
A grand prize of $150 will be awarded by a panel of three judges, and a People’s Choice Award of $75 will be selected by audience vote.
As part of the event, contestants will perform a dance taught by Cara Rains, DHS Jazz Choir choreographer. Proceeds will help fund the DHS Jazz Choir’s activities. For application forms and more information, contact [email protected] and the Jazz Choir web site at www.dhsjazzchoir.org.
