‘The Miracle Worker’ auditions set for WOH

The Woodland Opera House will hold auditions for the drama “The Miracle Worker” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, for children ages 8-14 and at 7 p.m. for youths over 14 and adults. Auditions will continue at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, for the same age ranges.

Auditions will be cold readings from the script and will take place at the theater, 340 Second St. in downtown Woodland.

All roles are available including the principal roles; Helen Keller (must look 8 to 14 years old — youthful-looking older teens and adults are encouraged to audition), Annie Sullivan (20s), Captain Arthur Keller (40s) and Kate Keller (early 30s). Featured roles are available for three adult men, two adult women, one girl and one boy.

The show will rehearse on Sunday through Thursday evenings beginning in late August. Performances will run from Oct. 17 to Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. There is an additional 2 p.m. matinée Saturday, Nov. 1, and a school outreach show at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.
