“The Traveling Eye” opens at International House in Davis on Friday, Nov. 8, and runs through Saturday, Dec. 7. The exhibition features the color photographs of Danni Downing and the luminous watercolors of Chris Kidd.
“The Traveling Eye” examines the artists’ bold use of light and color in their respective media, to capture the feeling of place and the beauty of the landscape throughout their travels.
An artist’s reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 at I-House, 10 College Park, as part of the Second Friday ArtAbout.
Downing is a full-time editor and photographer for a nonprofit in Washington, D.C. She became hooked on travel as a young girl on her first international trip. Her photographs can be seen at www.dannidowningphotography.com.
Kidd is a Davis artist who has shown extensively on the West Coast (San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Seattle). She began painting while living in Germany, and then moved to Hawaii, where she received a master of fine arts degree in painting and printmaking. For the past 30 years, she has been teaching and painting watercolor landscapes.
I-House is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For more information, call 530-753-5007.
