The Davis Musical Theatre Company invites the community to relive childhood as they go over the rainbow with Dorothy and Toto to the merry old Land of Oz and meet the Scarecrow, The Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. Jan Isaacson directs and choreographs this stage adaptation of the 1939 MGM movie musical, “Wizard of Oz,” with musical direction by Peter Kagstrom. Songs by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg include “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” “Follow The Yellow Brick Road” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.”
The cast features Cass Olson as Dorothy, Eduard Arakelyan as the Scarecrow, Gabe Avila as the Tin Man, Steve Isaacson as the Cowardly Lion, Sarah Kraemer as the Wicked Witch, Lucinda Otto as Glinda and Brian McCann as the Wizard.
Performances will be on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m., and Sundays at 2:15 p.m., from April 24 through May 17, at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Drive, Davis. Tickets are $18 general and $16 students and seniors 55 and over; and $14 each for groups of 10 or more (a $2 facility fee will be added to each ticket). Tickets are going fast.
