Thursday Live! features Scholer and Misner & Smith

By August 1, 2011

Local residents are invited to say “sayonara” to musician Bill Scholer, who will leave Davis and move to Japan for a couple of years, at a free Thursday Live! concert this week.

Scholer has been on the Davis music scene for many years with his Bill Scholer Blues Band. On Thursday, he will front his newest band, Waiting for Bruce, playing a mix of old, new, original and cover blues-based songs.

He’ll be joined by musicians who have played with him over the years, including Jeff Devine (!Akimbo) on drums, Kurt Roggli (!Akimbo and Biscuits ‘N Honey) on guitar, Jeff Simons (!Akimbo) on bass and Ron Cowden, also on bass (Biscuits N’ Honey and Elvis and the E-Men).

Misner & Smith (Sam Misner and Megan Smith) will open the show, performing fresh Americana/folk revival music.

Thursday Live! is sponsored by the Davis Odd Fellows and takes place on the first Thursday of each month at the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second St. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free to all ages.
