Think of this evening concert on Picnic Day as a double event: energetic jazz and dazzling, colorful lights. Guitarist John Scofield’s Überjam Band pioneered Scofield’s fusion of jazz, funk and electronic music. For this exclusive performance, Scofield and bandmates Andy Hess, Avi Bortnick and Tony Mason meet up with the wizards behind the Joshua Light Show — by lighting artist Joshua White, who did light shows for many 1960s rock concerts — making for an explosive, mind-bending combination of psychedelic visual effects and musical grooves. The event will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Mondavi Center’s Jackson Hall. Tickets start at $37 for general, $18.50 for UC Davis students; www.mondaviarts.org or 530-754-2787.
