The UC Davis Jazz Bands will perform a program titled “Guest Artists” at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Vanderhoef Studio Theatre at the Mondavi Center. Both bands, a larger “big band” and a smaller “combo” band, are directed by Delbert Bump.

Composer, arranger and saxophonist Gregory Yasinitsky will perform with the ensemble in several pieces, including three pieces of his own. He is an accomplished musician, and has performed with Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Louis Bellson, Stan Getz, Lionel Hampton, Manhattan Transfer and Mel Torme.

In June, Yasinitsky will become director for the Washington State University School of Music, where he is a regents professor of music.

Other guests include Carlos Medrano on congas and Tim Acosta on trumpet. Selections on the program include “All the Things You Are” by Jerome Kern, “Dreamsville” by Henry Mancini and “September” by Maurice White, along with several pieces by Bump.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and children. Seating is reserved. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.mondaviarts.org or by calling (530) 754-2787.
