UCD professor’s photo exhibit debuts at Mexican Consulate

By From page A7 | March 29, 2013

Marc Schenker, UC Davis professor and associate vice provost for outreach and engagement, is featured in a new photography exhibit titled “Magic Mexico: People, Tradition and Color.”

Schenker’s photos chronicle the diversity of Mexico, and its richness beyond stereotypes. The pictures cover more than 20 years of travel to Mexico Lindo. He attempts to convey a sense of Mexico that goes far beyond the images in the popular media. The people at the heart of his pictures reflect core Mexican realities: family, warmth, tradition, joyousness and color.

The exhibit opens at Sacramento’s Mexican Consulate, 2093 Arena Blvd., at 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The exhibit will be open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays until July 14. For more information, call 916-329-3516.
