Winters Plein Air Festival begins Friday

By From page A11 | April 24, 2014

The eighth annual Winters Plein Air Festival will host artists involved in “painting the town” and environs in a weeklong, open-air painting celebration in and around Winters.

Beginning at 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, artists will be painting scenic downtown Winters, and throughout the following week will take part in painting in the open air, on farms and roadsides, within a 15-mile radius of the town.

A timed “quick draw” competition is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 3, where artists can be observed creating a painting in two hours. This will take place at the corner of Main and Railroad streets in downtown Winters. The event concludes with an artists’ reception from 7 to 9 p.m. that day at the old Fire Station, 10 Abbey St.

This year, the event added an online exhibition “Winters Plein Air Works,” at yoloarts.org in collaboration with YoloArts.
