Yolo Mambo to play free show in Mondavi’s Corin Courtyard

By From page A6 | April 25, 2013

Yolo Mambo, the popular local foursome, will give a free outdoor performance at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, at the Corin Courtyard on the north side of the Mondavi Center, prior to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s 8 p.m. performance.

The transglobal rhythms of Yolo Mambo draw on musical currents from  Brazil, Cuba, Peru, Cape Verde, France, Spain, New Zealand, and the United States. Yolo Mambo blends spicy cha-cha, jazz, bossa nova, samba, salsa, and folk with the vocals of Catherine LeBlanc (singing in several languages).  Completing the instrumental and vocal backing are jazz and world music veterans Phil Summers on Spanish guitar, Carla Campbell on percussion, and Steve O’Neill on string bass.

Beverages and light meals will be available for sale from the Fusions Fresh food truck, which is now regularly stationed at the Corin Courtyard in the mornings and lunch hour, and for selected evening performances.
