The California Arts Council announced YoloArts as a recipient of a Creative California Communities grant of $45,000. The grant is for a project called “Artful Plate” — an initiative that will expand YoloArts’ Art & Ag Project.

“It is an honor to be awarded this grant to further explore the role of the arts in economic development in Yolo County, and for continuing our ongoing art and agriculture connection,” said Matt Lane, president of the YoloArts board of directors.

The “Artful Plate” initiative will commission art of California artists for reproduction on a series of dinner plates to be sold at county restaurants along with a seasonal, locally sourced meal. Participating artists and restaurants will be chosen from a countywide request for restaurants and artists, with an emphasis on locally produced art and food.

The competitive grant program received 157 applications, with 24 projects around the state selected for funding. The YoloArts project is set to begin this summer and continue through June 2015. For more information about “Artful Plate,” contact YoloArts at [email protected]
