YoloArts’ Gallery 625 hosts ‘Go Figure’ exhibit

By From page A14 | April 26, 2013

YoloArts and Gallery 625 present a group exhibition of new works featuring 11 artists from Yolo County and the region on the gallery’s main floor. The show, “Go Figure,” is a mixed-media study of the human figure in the landscape in a wide range of media.

The regional artists featured in the show are Victoria Brooks, Marie Dixon, Phillippe Gandiol, Debbie Gualco, Sergio Lopez, Marco Ospina, Matthew Peak, Dana Phillips, Marti Walker, Steve Walters and Beth Winfield. Many of the works are city- and ocean-inspired pieces, and some are inspired from rural Yolo County. All of the work explores the human figure in this context.

“I love the outdoors and the beauty and charm of small children, so combining the two brings me great joy, along with the challenge of trying to capture those wonderful childhood expressions,” Brooks said in her statement for the show. “To capture and share the beauty I see with the viewer is indeed a great reward.”

“Go Figure” will run through Friday, May 3, at Gallery 625, the public art gallery curated by YoloArts and located in the County Administration Building, 625 Court St. in Woodland. Regular gallery viewing hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
