Honoring the fallen on Memorial Day

Local residents joined people around the country in expressing the thanks of a grateful nation at Memorial Day ceremonies Monday.

In Davis, several hundred people flocked to the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road, on a sunny morning to pay tribute to military members who made the ultimate sacrifice — giving their lives in service to their country.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6949, led by post commander Jay Brookman, hosted the ceremony in collaboration with the Davis Cemetery District.
