Wendy’s closes in Davis

By From page -- | June 27, 2012

Signs are down and sheets of plywood up over the windows at the Wendy’s restaurant in South Davis, which closed Tuesday (June 26).

The Wendy’s Company also closed its restaurant at 401 Pioneer Ave. in Woodland.

“It’s strictly a business decision,” said spokesperson Chris Dickinsen. “We want to take the opportunity to thank our loyal customers. It was great being in Davis and Woodland, and we’re looking for a spot to get back.”

Employees who could relocate were offered positions at other locations, she said.

The restaurant at 1701 Cowell Blvd. served up its first square burger in 1997.

The Wendy’s chain includes more than 6,500 restaurants in 28 countries, according to its website. Sales at its North American restaurants were up 0.8 percent in the first quarter, but fell below the company’s expectations.
