Davis Community Meals seeks volunteer chefs

Davis Community Meals, a nonprofit organization that serves 40 to 70 people for dinner every Tuesday evening, needs volunteer chefs with a passion for cooking

The quality of DCM’s meal rivals that of a good restaurant: a choice of a meat or veggie entrée; fresh, seasonal vegetable; rice, pasta or potato; fresh green salad; fresh fruit salad; bread; dessert; and drinks. The customers include families on tight budgets, students, the elderly and the homeless.

DCM seeks volunteer chefs who can cook creatively, are undaunted by cooking for a crowd, and would be responsible for planning and supervising the preparation of the meal one Tuesday every four to six weeks. There is training available by three experienced head cooks, gauged to your own pace and the support of a friendly team of sous chefs.

The meal preparation and the serving take place in the newly renovated kitchen and hall at the Episcopal Church of St. Martin, 640 Hawthorn Lane.

Two qualified cooks will be selected for this volunteer position. For details, call Bill Pride at (530) 756-4008 or Sandy Granett at (530) 756-1362.
