With new 4G cards in place, users will find the Wi-Fi service aboard Capitol Corridor Amtrak trains even faster than before. And a recent study conducted by UC Davis determined that free Wi-Fi motivates travelers to ditch driving in favor of riding the rails.

The study has gotten worldwide attention in the transit/Wi-Fi community for its groundbreaking methodology and findings. According to UCD professor Patricia L. Mokhatarian, “New Capitol Corridor riders were particularly influenced by having free Wi-Fi. They made about 9 percent more trips than they would have done without free Wi-Fi.”
