Davis Roots, a local business incubator, announces a “Where Are They Now?” speaker series to focus on successful Davis-grown companies. Entrepreneurs will talk about how they started and describe their paths to success.

Selected speakers will come from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from web-based technology to bio-engineering and food science to restaurants and brewing.

The first speaker, Paul Itoi, is a co-founder of Bazu Sports, a company started in Davis in 2009 as a marathon and triathlon timing company with a special focus on mobile text messaging services. Bazu has since grown through funding rounds and a couple of mergers to become part of the largest timing company in the world with a suite of products used by the world’s largest events and races.

Itoi will speak from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Hunt-Boyer Mansion at Second and E streets in downtown Davis. A short question-and-answer session will conclude the evening.

Community members are invited to come at 5:30 p.m. for networking.
