By From page A6 | September 8, 2011

Davis restaurant Ciocolat has received honorable mention in the Sacramento Area Sustainable Business of the Year Awards.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony Thursday, Sept. 15 in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I St., Sacramento. The awards are given by the Sacramento Metro Chamber and the Business Environmental Resource Center.

The ceremony is part of an event from 8 a.m. to noon, which includes a Sustainability Expo with representatives from state and local agencies as well as exhibitors from environmental and pollution prevention firms. A regulatory update and other workshops also are planned.

With a goal to help 50 nonprofits and small businesses obtain their Sacramento Area Sustainable Business (GREEN) certification in one day, the Metro Chamber has partnered with BERC to provide a workshop to educate and certify small businesses and organizations in at least one of the following six areas of sustainability: water conservation, pollution prevention; energy conservation, solid waste reduction, green building and transportation/air quality.

All local businesses are invited, including home-based businesses and organizations. Professional assistance, instruction and certificates will be provided by BERC staff.
